Where To Celebrate MLK Day 2026 in Austin

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is on Monday, and if you still need plans, we’ve got you covered:

💬 Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration at St. Austin Parish

The Diocese of Austin is hosting a day of prayer on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Austin Parish, 2026 Guadalupe St. The event is free to attend and includes a talk from Father Bruce Niele and a light reception. King’s final speech, “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop,” will be highlighted during the day.

🎉 March, Festival, and Food Drive at Huston-Tillotson University

Austin’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day march and festival starts at 9:30 a.m. on the south steps of the Texas Capitol Building. The march goes east on 11th Street and ends at Huston-Tillotson University, 900 Chicon St., for a festival. The festival is free to attend and includes live music and food vendors. If you’re planning on going, make sure to pack a couple canned goods to donate to Central Texas Food Bank!

🫶 MLK Day Donation Drive at Pease Park

Pease Park Conservancy will be accepting non-perishable food items, diapers, and period products on Monday between 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the park, 1100 Kingsbury St. Donations will be taken to the Austin Diaper Bank and Micah 6 food pantry.

🍳 MLK Day Brunch & Day Party at Busy Signal

Busy Signal, 1104 E. 11th St., is hosting a brunch and laidback day party on Monday starting at 11 a.m. Entry is free with an RSVP, and the brunch buffet is $25. DJ Hella Yella will be performing during the brunch.

🕯️ Circles of Light 2026 - An MLK Day Community Gathering at Rozco’s Comedy Club

BRAVE Communities, a local nonprofit organization, is hosting an event at Rozco’s Comedy Club, 1805 E. 7th St., on Monday at 2 p.m. The event is free to attend and includes refreshments, bracelet and card-making for refugee families, performances, and guided conversations about technology, mental health, financial literacy, and wealth management.

🎤 An every.Word Poetry MLK Day Open Mic at The Vortex

The MLK Day Open Mic starts at 8 p.m. on Monday at the Eloise Brooks Cullum Stage inside The Vortex, 2307 Manor Road. Black artists will be given priority in the lineup, and musicians and allies are welcome. Open mic participants get free entry, and a $5 donation is suggested for attendees.
