| A billboard reading “Make Drafthouse Great Again” is now up on West Sixth Street, prompting another conversation about the movie theater’s controversial switch to mobile ordering. | - Alamo Drafthouse changed its ordering process in February. Moviegoers now scan a QR code to order food and drinks instead of writing their orders with a pen and paper. [KXAN]
- The move led to a number of petitions and many have spoken out against it. Actor Elijah Wood said ordering via a QR code was “truly awful.” [Chron.com]
- Howdy.com, a technology staffing company, is behind the billboard. The company’s founder Jacqueline Samira said the switch to mobile ordering made her daughter cry. Alamo Drafthouse officials say the average, hourly take-home pay for most of its employees is up since making the switch. [Austin American-Statesman]
