| Texans Condemn Big Bend Border Wall During Austin Meeting | Dozens of people against the construction of a border wall in Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park gathered and spoke at a public Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission meeting in Austin this week. | - Construction in the Big Bend region has sparked bipartisan opposition throughout the state. Paul Foster, Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission Chair, said the board agreed with the comments they heard during the meeting and are working with the governor and the federal government to minimize damage in the area. - Jerry Patterson, a former Republican Texas Land Commissioner, said that a wall in Big Bend is a “very expensive remedy to a problem that doesn’t exist.” [Austin American-Statesman]
- The Trump administration paused wall construction in Big Bend National Park on Monday, saying U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials want to do an “on-the-ground evaluation” of the area. It is not clear how long construction will be paused for. [The Associated Press]
