Austin May Ban Large-Scale Data Centers

When the Austin City Council meets today, they plan to discuss regulations for the development of data centers that could restrict their size, location, and design. Pflugerville Ends Flock Contract

Citing privacy concerns, Pflugerville City Council members voted unanimously this week to end its contract with Flock Safety. They deactivated all city-leased license plate reader cameras by physically covering 28 cameras with plastic bags. Pflugerville police confirmed the Flock operating system was allowing non-partner law enforcement to access data. City Council will vote on a new policy at a future meeting. [KXAN]

New Riverside Venue Name and Opening Announced

United Heritage Hall, a 4,000-capacity live music venue, will open in Austin’s Riverside area in spring 2027. The venue will replace Emo’s, which will move downtown after December. The Hall, which is a partnership between AEG Presents and United Heritage Credit Union, will feature Art Deco design and luxury amenities, and anchor the 109-acre mixed-use River Park development. Cultures Collide Deliciously at New East Austin Restaurant

Chef Silvino Sanchez blends his Mexican roots with the Southeast Asian flavors of his mentor Thai Changthong’s homeland at his new restaurant, Hermanas. The inspiration began with a Thai mole that Sanchez sees as a “bridging of cultures.” Expect creative mashups like laab carne apache, scallop tostadas with a nam prik pla ra fermented fish dipping sauce, and more.
