Weekend 2 of ACL Fest Is Here and It Won’t Be As Muddy as Weekend 1

The second weekend of Austin City Limits Music Festival starts at noon and with sunny skies and high temperatures in the forecast over the next three days, it won’t be a mud fest.

  • The park has been drying out all week. Anyone else wake up Monday morning and think Mother Nature was against the first weekend of ACL? After the gloomiest weekend the city has seen in weeks, Monday was sunshiny and dry! Similar conditions followed all week, allowing the park to dry out a bit. If these Jay Janner photos are any indication of how this weekend will go, I think it will be a dusty one!
  • Need a guide? Our ACL Fest Weekend 1 guide is still accurate for this weekend with one edit: You won’t need a poncho or rain boots, but you may want to wear a pair of shoes you don’t mind getting dirty! [City Cast Austin]
  • Who to see. Lots of artists playing this weekend were not at the festival during Weekend 1. Kings of Leon, Sienna Spiro, Natasha Bedingfield, and Houndmouth are among the Weekend 2-only artists. [ACL Fest]
  • Pack your sunscreen! The sun will be out all weekend and temperatures will hit the 90s every day. That means regular, non-muddy, ACL protocols are in effect: Layer on your sunscreen, wear a bandana to keep that dust out of your lungs, and refill your water often! [National Weather Service]
  • Get the nacho bucket. Cabo Bob’s has a $40 nacho bucket for sale at ACL and it is worth every penny. The bucket comes with brisket, queso, guacamole, pico de gallo, chipotle crema, spicy jalapeño, and enough chips for three to four people. It’s delicious and the employees cheer for you when you order the bucket! [Cabo Bob’s]

Barton Springs Pool Bathhouse Renovation Nearing Completion

Nearly a year behind schedule, the bathhouse at Barton Springs Pool is expected to be finished with renovations in the next couple of months. A substantial completion of the project is roughly a month away and workers will need another month after that to finish exhibits and prepare the aquarium inside the bathhouse. [KUT]

The Best Roundtop Tips

The Roundtop Antiques Fair’s fall show runs Oct. 25-31 and it can be an overwhelming shopping experience. I wish I had this expert guide before I went for the first time! [Tribeza]

APD Doesn’t Have Evidence It Needs To Investigate ICE Shooting

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has not shared its evidence related to the shooting of Wilber Rafael Garces Perez with the Austin Police Department, making the department unable to investigate the incident. Police requested body camera footage and reports from the scene, among other items. [Austin American-Statesman]
