Your Daily Guide

🐿️ Groundhog Day came early, because it’s me again! First, I’m sending a huge, massive, gigantic thank you to everyone who became a City Cast Neighbor last week during our fall membership campaign. We appreciate you so much. 🧡

I’ve got some good news and some bad news, though: We didn’t meet our goal, but you can still help us get there!

For $10 a month, you’ll not only invest directly in this locally made newsletter, you’ll get a bunch of perks — like a weekly curated events email, invites to members-only events, and a special podcast feed with bonus content for Neighbors. It’s pretty sweet!

And this just in: we still have some of those dad hats left. Can you imagine being together at a members-only event in our matching hats? I’m picturing it right now! 💭

Okay, that’s my pitch, people! Let’s get into the news.

Early Voting Ends Friday

More than 150,000 voters in Travis County have already cast a ballot during the early voting period for the November election, which started last Monday, Oct. 19. [KVUE]

  • So many places to vote early. Travis County has 45 early voting locations, which is up from 38 during the last midterm election. [KUT]
  • In a hurry? Check wait times. There’s an early voting dashboard where you can get a ballpark estimate of how long you’ll have to wait to cast a ballot at each polling location.
  • Resources for local elections. Austin voters have a lot to decide on in this election! Luckily, the Austin Common has helpful guides on Prop I, Props A and B, and much more. Editor-in-Chief Amy Stansbury also recently shared with us key things to consider when voting for a city council candidate. [The Austin Common, City Cast Austin]
  • Gimme those freebies. I will be guarding my “I voted” sticker with my life because there are a ton of discounts and freebies that local Austin businesses are giving away to voters. [City Cast Austin]
  • Where are my procrastinators at? As a lifelong procrastinator, I do my best to vote early but sometimes the thrill of waiting until the last minute is irresistible. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3 and Travis County will have 201 polling locations open for the day. [KVUE]

🍿 Have you seen “You Can See Everything” yet? Kelsey convinced me to check it out and I’m so happy she did! I’m still processing it, and part of that process is obsessing over the Austin-related details in the documentary, including this house. If you've seen it, too, let us know what you think!
